January 27, 2010 7pm at Nova

It’s NOVAPLOSION!  You’ll be able to say you were there when…  the next Seattle Music Sensation performed  in 2010!!!!  !  Once a year, this very fun evening rocks Nova and beyond, a night not to be missed!  Give Novites the cheering crowd they deserve.

Student committees at Nova expect to fundraise for at least 5o % of any funds needed for their activities.  School tradition remains strong that all members of our community be able to participate in any Nova event.  Nova students work hard to ensure their peers have the economic means to participate in any club, trip or activity.  Music matters as the folks at KEXP say and it really matters at Nova.

Suggested Donation $10

Be there or miss out on seeing the next Jimi Hendrix, Quincy Jones, Sleater-Kinney or Judy Collins!  Families can volunteer to bring Bake Sale donations, help with set up (6:30)  or breakdown.  Let the Band Committee know you can help by sending an e-mail to Xander care of:  thenovaprojectptsa@gmail.com.

From Max Pagel, Nova student

Planning for Nova’s 2010 Fashion Show is underway. This is a completely student planned event that is a fundraiser to help support out Activities Committee which plans our Prom (another completely student planned event). We are asking for donations that will help put on this Fashion Show This event is comprised of repurposed clothing exclusively made by our students. For the first time it’s open to the public.

The Activities Committee is looking for financial support to produce the event. They have a donation letter and would appreciate the Nova community helping solicit funds. For an electronic copy of the letter, please email thenovaprojectptsa@gmail.com

From Joe Szwaja, Nova teacher

Since 1999, Nova students have traveled to Guatemala 5 times, raising a total of $17,000 for their social justice partnership projects. These trips allow Nova students to live with Guatemalan families for two weeks, engaging in language studies while learning the history of social justice struggles of the country. Student commitment to fundraising for partners in Guatemala provides financial support for ecological restoration projects, schools for refugee children and more.  Join us for and evening of great food from local Guatemalan restaurant Chapinlandia and learn more about Nova’s Social Justice programs in Guatemala.

Thursday, January 28, 2010
6-8pm in the Nova cafeteria
$10/per person by donation

Can’t make the dinner but want to support the cause? Please send you tax deductible donation to the Nova PTSA with “Guatemala” in the memo. Thanks for your support.
